Types of synthetic rubber
Author:

Synthetic rubber refers to rubber manufactured by chemical synthesis methods. Compared with natural rubber, synthetic rubber has better wear resistance, oil resistance, high temperature resistance and weather resistance. Synthetic rubber can be divided into many different types according to different synthesis methods and chemical structures.
1. Styrene-butadiene rubber (BR). It is a synthetic rubber made of butadiene and styrene copolymerized. It has good elasticity, wear resistance and cold resistance, and is often used in the manufacture of tires, rubber shoes, rubber tubes and other products. The disadvantage is that it has poor heat resistance and is easy to age.
2. Nitrile rubber (NBR). It is a synthetic rubber made of butadiene and acrylonitrile copolymerized. It has excellent oil resistance, flame resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, and is often used in the manufacture of oil seals, oil pipes, mailboxes and other products. The disadvantage of nitrile rubber is that it has poor cold resistance and is easy to age.
3. Neoprene (CR). It is a synthetic rubber made of chloroprene and styrene copolymerized. It has excellent weather resistance, oil resistance and abrasion resistance, and is often used in the manufacture of rubber tubes, rubber sheets, rubber belts and other products. The disadvantage of neoprene is that it has poor heat resistance and is easy to age.
4. Nitrile rubber (IIR) Nitrile rubber is a synthetic rubber made of isoprene and styrene copolymerized. It has excellent air tightness, heat resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, and is often used in the manufacture of inner tubes, sealants, shock pads and other products. Disadvantages: Poor elasticity and easy hardening.
5. Ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR). It is a synthetic rubber made of ethylene and propylene copolymerized. It has excellent heat resistance, cold resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, and is often used in the manufacture of cable insulation layers, automotive seals, building waterproof materials and other products. The disadvantage of ethylene propylene rubber is that it has poor elasticity and is easy to age.
6. Fluorine rubber (FKM). It is a synthetic rubber made by copolymerizing monomers such as fluoride and ethylene. It has excellent high temperature resistance, oil resistance and corrosion resistance. It is often used in the manufacture of seals, pipes, valves and other products under high temperature, high pressure and strong corrosion environment. The disadvantage is that the price is higher.
7. Silicone rubber (VMQ). Silicone rubber is a synthetic rubber polymerized from silane monomers. It has excellent high temperature resistance, cold resistance and oxidation resistance, and is often used in the manufacture of seals, electronic components, medical devices and other products. Disadvantages are poor elasticity and easy aging.
Different types of synthetic rubber have different characteristics and application ranges. Choosing the right type of synthetic rubber can improve the performance and service life of the product.
